Just an interesting idea

Thanks Norma for the idea. I bought a head-torch to try out running at night as I had never done that and it was an interesting idea.

After cleaning up some leaves from the garden with the family I donned the  new torch and headed out for a loop of the lake des Settons. At about the half way mark it was properly dark and I was thinking of bailing out and running on the road. I told myself it was because of injury risk but in reality I was getting freaked out in the woods.

I convinced myself to continue and then the woods became real creepy. What a wuss...  But before ridiculing give it a shot. On your own in woods in pitch black with just a head torch and flimsy running kit.

It was fun, but I did eventually bail out and run the road at kilometer 11 of 14.

Pain in the ass

Although I now have a genuine doctors certificate, I think the hamstring is going to prevent me from doing a single long run before the Beauj. Do I:

a) Ignore the training implications and hope to get round by the skin of my teeth.
b) Drop down to the half or even the 12km

I have found a suitable method of removing the pain, a couple of paracetamol followed by a few beers. (It is not a bad pull, it just results in a pain in the butt :) )

KMV

The results of our little Brit Pack race inside the overall race of the KMV was entirely as expected, except perhaps for times. We all did better (or same as)  we expected.

When you mention the times, it is almost comical. We did 2.5km and I did it in just short of 1 hour.

One of the most enjoyable races. Ending up sitting on the top of the world in glorious sunshine with a bunch of like-minded lunatics. What could be better than that? .... Sam giving me cake at the bottom?
